April in Paris Designs is the vision of Merideth McGregor, who has been inspired by beauty, color, and design throughout her life. Her distinctive jewelry designs are based on her personal taste and style which have been strongly influenced by her unique travel adventures. She spent a number of years in Africa, where she first served in the Peace Corps in Gabon. Following her time in the Peace Corps she moved to Dakar, Senegal where she worked in an orphanage for young girls. As a photojournalist Merideth documented the Nicaraguan Revolution as a member of the Brooklyn Sister City Project. She photographed the changes in Cuba over the course of many years, and as a photographer for the United Nations she captured everyday life in Vietnam and Morocco. During the 1990s she traveled to the southwestern United States documenting women cowgirls and ranchers, which inspired her children’s book - Cowgirl.

The year 2015 brought Merideth to San Miguel de Allende for an extended period of time where she took numerous classes in jewelry design. Merideth was inspired not only by her teachers, but by the unique culture, beauty and history of San Miguel de Allende. While she loves SMA and it’s people Merideth is at heart a Francophile and has spent much of the past 5 years living in Paris, exploring France, and making trips to French-influenced Morocco where her study of jewelry design continued.

Merideth’s photographic work is in the permanent collections of the Victoria and Albert Museum (London) and the National Museum of African American History and Culture (Washington, DC). Her work has been featured in numerous magazines and newspapers including Impact Visuals, a NYC based cooperative photo agency dedicated to social change where she worked for many years. She is also the owner of Joie de Livres, a Rare Book & Fine Art Gallery which she opened in 2005. Over the years, her gallery has presented exhibitions of iconic photographers such as Inge Morath, Jacques Henri Lartigue, Henri Cartier-Bresson, and Berenice Abbott.

This life, along with her passion for literature and the arts, has crafted her sense of purpose and her design aesthetic. Her jewelry collection is beautiful, daring and whimsical, and unlike what others wear. Merideth hopes you enjoy wearing her jewelry and that it expresses you and your joie de vivre.
